Last night/this morning I was watching Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Though I didn’t care much for the movie, I felt like drawing Ramona Flowers. It looks nothing like her but in my defense the only source of light was from my laptop screen at 3am.
I’m just happy that I am starting to get more comfortable with drawing again.
I made a tiled background for a tumblr about tea consumption about a month ago. Then I stopped posting on it because it was too time consuming (since I drink tea ALL. THE. TIME.) and now I’m posting this image here because I am proud of it and never want it to go away. Use it because I’m not going to.
(trust me it looks great as a background)
So I’ve finally started to break in my sketchbook that I bought a few months ago. It’s probably going to be completely doctor who themed.
so far it’s sucking and i usually don’t post wips that i dislike, but whatever. i haven’t posted any art on here in a long time. i need to bring a sharpener with me or use a lead pencil because it’s really difficult to try to draw tiny details with unsharpened pencils x.x
AT LEAST I’M DRAWING AGAIN! woo!
productivity. i need a few more cutouts here and there and i really need to leave space for paint. figured i will collect some reference pictures, print them out and just take this with me to school. can’t work on this any more at home. :T
Working on a mixed media college piece for class. Need to lay everything out and sketch stuff so that I can start painting as soon as we get back to school.
We were supposed to choose a topic for our “final portfolio”, which will consist of three pieces. The works had to be in the same medium and all covering the same topic. We also needed an artist muse (I chose Peter Louis and Hannah Hoch).
My topic is “People vs food - then and now”. First canvas would be: nomad hunters and business people. Second canvas: Kings (mainly Louis XIV of Versailles) and modern day obesity. Third canvas: Holocaust and Anorexia.
The thing in the middle that connects the three pieces is a Hammer map projection of the world.
I am pleased with how this is turning out. Hopefully I will like the finished pieces enough to post them.
Progress on the painting/mural. It looks better upside down atm bc i didn’t get to the top and bottom parts. i focused mainly on making the sides darker. oh well.
I’m staying after school tomorrow again to paint :D
Yay!
so i started painting my “mural” design for mixed media today. This was a last minute idea but we had to create a design that shows a correlation between a message and the location of the mural. After scrapping two ideas, I looked for “inspirational quotes” and found:
“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars” - Oscar Wilde
You can’t tell right now because I didn’t work on the values…at all, but the final product is supposed to be like you’re in a deep hole of which the walls are brick (ahem…like a well) and you’re looking up into the sky. There’s going to be some hipster nebula shit goin’ in in the center there. Also, the quote will be written in script around the circumference of the hole.
I’m planning to stay after school to paint some more tomorrow. Painting during class today felt so relaxing and stress-free. All I had to do was mix colors and paint lines. For some reason I feel most comfortable doing things that are considered tedious to others (actions that require constant repeat in a pattern, like photo-shopping a 100 pictures or editing a bunch of stuff to fit a certain layout/plan). I feel really efficient and I’m really fast and completing those kinds of tasks.
So I was thinking…
when artistdirectory.tumblr.com gets to 1000 followers, we’ll do a give away for people who reblog or post or do stuff to spread the word about the tumblr.
The stuff in the package(s) should be a bunch of interesting and useful art stuff. I’m actually thinking of having 3 winners…
Once we get closer to 1000 subs we’ll ask the people over at ad what they’d like, but for now I think I’ll just ask my followers.
What do you guys think we should include/ what would you like to receive in a package?
So this was my group project for italian class. Our teacher wanted us to write a simple, one paged police report/file in italian about a fake crime. Naturally, I started to get all sorts of ideas on how to make it look like a REAL police file. That day in school I googled a bunch of police files and stuff and bunched it all together and made my own templates for the file. It took a heck load of time to put together and insert all the information and make all the tables blah blah but I was proud of myself.
Of course it turned out to be the best one in the class but my teacher said she is going to take points off because I did most of it at home. Which is bullshit because I told her that my group wrote all the information (the most important part of the grade) in class and it was a collaborative effort, and the only thing that was done at home was the stuff that was printed (which, technically, everyone else in the class printed something out as well). Just because I took the liberty to put more love and effort into our group’s project doesn’t mean we need to get the points taken off for it.
(Okay I totally bullshitted that. All my group did was print out the picture of the girl and the guy, tell me that they stole cookies and wrote “caso #—-” and their name on the file. BUT SHE DOESN’T KNOW THAT >:|)
I finally finished this piece of crap “self portrait still life” for mixed media. It was due on friday but I stayed home because I was sick that day. My teacher is either going to be mad at me because she couldn’t grade it in time or she won’t care. Hopefully the latter.
x.x
I am tired. I still have a ton of homework to do. I am doing great at not complaining :D
Minimal effort and drawing has never been synonymous for me, until just now. I hope it doesn’t show >.<
Oh well, this was pretty MOLLIFYING.
I’m not stressing about the Pee Sats, and I drew more today than I did last week. I’m going to try and get my teacher to let me color this during class (its the inside cover of my sketchbook) Au revoir!
Will you ever frogive me?
Farewhale my friend!
(This is for Zelfie, anyone else…don’t mind this post or the horrible drawings :])
We had a sub for art, so I sat in the corner and tried to draw my feet. I should have focused more on the texture of my jeans, since one of my art homeworks is to draw something textured. Oh well, I think this counts?
BTW I AM EXCITED BECAUSE THERE IS ONE LESS DAY TO WAIT TILL THE WEEK IS OVER. YAY.
